Dear Aarshabh,
Today you witness the third calender year coming in, so far its been pretty eventful for you. You brought in 2009 as a five month baby, with a visit to Ganga ram hospital where you were operated upon. By New years eve however you were safely in the comforts of home, well on your way to recovery. That year, Papa, Masi and mom went for dinner on New years eve while nani happily volunteered to give u company.
Year 2010 again you were hospitalised, this time for typhoid / serious stomach viral - they still can't say for sure what caused your fever to soar up to 104. So as Papa and I were recalling this afternoon, you came home on 30th evening and we all brought in the year 2010 sitting in the comforts of our blanket in the room I insulated with daris and three layered curtains and we bought you a oil based heater as a New years present. That year was a challenge, owing to all the serious intra venous anti biotic given to you, you developed an ugly rash on your body with excessive itching, you also had a very upset stomach and the challenge for me was to not put you on diaper knowing that you will soil the daris every other minute. I don't remember how I managed alone without a maid honestly, I am glad I have had selective amnesia, even today it sounds scary. But the important thing is we managed pretty well.
This year, by God's grace, we are better off. We went to the Khulna zoo on Dec 31 and have been lazing around through the day on Jan 1. Of course you are overjoyed to have both the people who matter the most, at your beck and call. I can clearly see you beaming with joy to have papa with you.
But I am also worried about Jan 4, when we will be leaving papa behind. Its going to be tough on you I know, and worse for me. May God make it smooth for all three of us.
On a lighter note, for a two year old, you are pretty sorted my boy. Through out the trip to the zoo you refused to acknowledge anything in the cage. I could tell you found captivity very unsavoury considering the only beings that captured your attention were the ducks who were freely swimming in water and the geese who again were moving about the whole place like free spirits. No amount of creating excitement around the bear, tiger, leopard, crocodile, deer, monkey made you look their way. I am proud of you my son. I too feel that caging animals is not in the best interest of being animal.
I promise we'll go to a proper Tiger reserve the one in Bangkok that is managed by the Budhist monks, some day.
Till then Happy New year my baby.
May the world be your playpen.
Love
Ma
